In order to get the most from your testing it is vital that you look to train appropriately. The feedback provided during your Sportstest™, and the information in training books such as Successful Sportives is a first step towards making sure you get the most of your training time.

However, we are all individual and everyone will respond differently to the same training programme. For a lucky few athletes a “recommended” programme may be just perfect. For many, a generic training plan may be too much to cope with, and for others it may not give enough stimuli to see fitness development. The heart rate or power training zones may be targeted perfectly, but getting the balance right in a training week still isn’t quite there.

Many other athletes just don’t like to “go it alone”. Busy work schedules, travelling, or family pressures mean that a typical “off the shelf” plan just doesn’t fit with their lifestyle, and they are left confused about what training to do to ensure they improve their performance.

For some athletes, having a coach with the appropriate scientific background that they can “bounce” ideas off, and get a considered and rational response (not just what is coaching folklore, or what their Uncles' coach did in the 50’s!), or whom will give a clear view to a problem (for example how best to cope at the onset of overtraining), means it is something to take the worry out of their training.

This is where the benefits of have a coach really pay dividends.

Whether you are a runner, cyclist, triathlete or duathlete, Sportstest™ offers just such a service.
