Whether you are training for a specific event or simply looking to improve your overall fitness and wellbeing, Sportstest™ can help you address specific areas of your performance, training and nutrition.

 

Use the Sportstest™ to determine at what speeds and heart rate your body hits the different fuel burning thresholds, moving from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism and influencing your endurance performance. How efficient are you at different speeds? What is your sub max efficiency and how can you improve it?

If you are training for a particular event such as a 5k, 10k, half marathon or full marathon the demands are different. Train smarter knowing your thresholds, scientifically measured maximums and required fuel intake to support your effort.

The test includes detailed physiological analysis of running performance (during treadmill running), including measurement of VO2 max, peak running speed, maximum heart rate, sub-maximal running economy, threshold determination, and scientifically predicted race ability. We can also do a calculation of fuel utilisation at race intensities if required.

Your Running Sportstest™

The running Sportstest™ is suitable to runners of all levels, and the appointment would include the following:

• A one-to-one appointment with Dr Garry Palmer, lasting approximately 2 hours.

• An assessment of your training history (to see where enhancements can be made).

• Full consideration of your running specific goals.

• Assessment of your physical characteristics, to include accurate measurement of weight and body fat, and optimal (but sensible) targets for you to achieve your ideal race weight

• Provision of nutritional targets (where appropriate).

• Full running physiological assessment, including assessment of your peak running speed, VO2 max, maximum heart rate, endurance capacity, running economy (submaximal efficiency) and threshold determination.

• Brief analysis of your running style (if required).

• Calculation of fuel utilisation at race intensities (if required).

• Provision of scientifically determined (not predicted) heart rate training zones, specific to running.

• An individual tutorial on training programme design.

• Planning of training phases, specific to your needs, to help meet your performance goals.

• A sample training week, specific to your fitness levels, competitive goals, training availability and commitments.

• Plus, the chance to ask any running training related queries you may have!

 

The cost of your running Sportstest is from £165 to £195, dependant on test location.
