Ashley Keay

Swim Coach

Ashley Keay

Ashley is an 18-year-old passionate swimmer and swimming coach with over 10 years of competitive swimming experience. He started swimming competitively at the age of 8 and spent 9 years swimming with Stafford Apex before moving to my current club, Newcastle (Staffs) Swimming Club.

Throughout his competitive career, he has gained extensive experience at county, regional and national level. He has competed at the County Championships since 2018, winning numerous medals, and have competed at the Regional Championships since 2021, where he also achieved multiple podium finishes. Since 2023, he has competed at the National Championships and has gained valuable experience as a national finalist.

Alongside his competitive swimming, I am a Level 2 Swimming Teacher and Assistant Coach, giving him experience in both teaching and developing swimmers while helping athletes improve their performance in the pool.

Asley is extremely passionate about swimming and enjoy helping swimmers of all abilities achieve their goals. Whether that is supporting a young, up-and-coming swimmer working towards their first county qualifying time, helping a triathlete maximise their speed and efficiency over longer distances, or working with someone who simply wants to improve and refine their technique, he aims to provide positive, personalised coaching suited to each swimmer’s individual needs.

His own experience as a competitive swimmer has given me a strong understanding of the commitment, training and mindset required to progress. I am keen to use the knowledge and experience he has gained throughout my swimming career to help others become more confident, technically efficient and successful in the water.
