Run Pre-Test Information

See below & follow the instructions

Please read all the following information & fill out the forms when prompted to do so!

Apparatus:

  • For the running tests, you will need to bring with you clothes to run on a treadmill in (DO NOT FORGET YOUR RUNNING SHOES OR SHORTS!!!).  

  • We recommend that you wear running shoes that you are most used to training in (preferably those used for speed sessions, or racing), but ensure they are well broken in without being worn out!


The Test:

  • You will probably be exercising for about 30-40 min in total.  The last 5 minutes of the test being very intense!  

  • As a result you will need to be physiologically and psychologically prepared.  

  • We recommend at least one full rest day prior to the test, and that you are mentally prepared for a hard effort (as you would be for a competitive situation).
     

Diet:

  • We would suggest similar preparations to a competition. Ideally your last meal should be consumed ~3-4 hours prior to your arrival at the laboratory, with a small snack (if needed) 2 hours prior to arrival.  

  • Your last fluid intake can be up to 60 min prior to arrival at the laboratory.  If in any doubt about this please contact me.  

  • Please avoid products with high levels of caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea, coke and chocolate) for the 6-12 hrs prior to the test where possible.
     

Illness/Injury:

  • You will not be able to complete the tests if you are ill or injured in any way (you will be asked to complete a medical consent form on the day of the test).  

  • In the case that you are unable to attend a booked test for these reasons, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule.  

  • (We charge a cancellation fee of £50 for failure to cancel a test, or less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation).


Athlete Characteristic Forms:

  • This form is to provide us with information in order to ensure the tests undertaken are specific to your needs.  

  • If you fill this in prior to your arrival it will provide more time after the tests to give specific feedback to your needs.


Training Guidelines:

  • We use the original British Cycling federation guidelines with a prescription of heart rate training zones.  

  • Using this as a basis for training we have successfully coached athletes in a variety of sports to an international level.  

  • It will assist in our feedback of your results if you read these before your test.
     

Appointments:

  • Appointments are for a 2.5 hour session.  

  • The first 60 mins will be the physical assessment with the second 60 mins being used to provide verbal and written feedback.  

  • During this time you will have the opportunity to ask questions, and will be provided with guidance specific to your individual requirements.  

  • Please ensure that you arrive promptly for your test, as we will run strictly to time.
