The smoker’s excuse

Has anyone ever used the smokers excuse on you to justify a rationale for something?

You know the one…

“I’m not worried about smoking, my nan smoked 60 a day and she lived to a ripe old age of 103… and even then she was run over by a bus.”

Thing is, no matter what the circumstances, there’s almost always an outlier.

The exception that makes the rule.

And needless to say, just because some people smoke or drink heavily, and go on to live long lives – whereas others can take real care of themselves, only to succumb to illness at a young age – smoking isn’t going to extend your life.

But there’s always people who buck a trend, or others who think they’ve got the miracle solution.

Social media’s full of them.

So much so, that when I post videos with balanced, research-based information, the comment section’s full of people regurgitating all manner of ‘facts’ that are about as fictional as Harry Potter.

On that note: watch out for ‘experts’ who are unbelievable claims they’re unable to back up. They’re normally about to sell you their snake oil.

Unfortunately, I have no secret “quick fix” solutions or silver bullets. Mainly because there aren’t any.

Instead, I work using a systematic approach backed by scientific knowledge.
